Everything captains and players need to know about registration, competition, scoring, match-day operations, fair-play reviews, and prizes.
Registration & payment
Who can enter Last Squad Standing?
The tournament is for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS console squads on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. A minimum of four players is required to register. Teams may add up to two alternates, for a maximum roster of six.
How much does the Preseason Exhibition cost?
The Preseason Exhibition remains planned as a free event, but it is currently on hold and registration is paused. Planned Season Zero pricing is $10 per registered player plus a $10 team fee for each of four regular-season weeks. Paid registration is not open.
How many teams can register?
Each exhibition night is limited to 25 squads, or up to 100 active players. A team may select one, two, or all three nights, subject to capacity and administrative review.
Can a player register with more than one team?
No. A gamer tag may appear on only one tournament roster. Duplicate or inaccurate roster information must be corrected before roster lock.
Does exhibition participation guarantee a Season Zero place?
No. Exhibition results do not count toward regular-season standings. Exhibition rosters are not season-locked, and participation does not guarantee acceptance into the paid season.
Format & scoring
When is the free Preseason Exhibition?
The Preseason Exhibition is currently on hold. The previously announced September 18–20 schedule is no longer active, and the replacement date and EST match times are to be announced.
How does Season Zero work?
The paid season is planned for six weeks. Weeks 1–4 contain four matches each and produce cumulative regular-season standings. Places 1–8 qualify directly for the Championship, positions 9–24 enter the Play-in, and 25th is eliminated. The Play-in top eight join the eight direct qualifiers.
When do scores reset?
Each exhibition night has independent standings, and exhibition results do not count toward regular-season standings. Regular-season scores accumulate across 16 matches, then Play-in teams reset to zero. All 16 Championship teams reset to zero again before the five-match final stage.
How does scoring work?
Teams earn placement points plus one point per kill. Placement awards are 10 points for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 3 for 5th, 2 for 6th, 1 for 7th–8th, and 0 for 9th or lower. Penalties subtract from the total.
How are ties decided?
Within a stage, ties are resolved by total eliminations, best single-match total, eliminations in that best match, eliminations in the most recent match, then better placement in the most recent match.
Can alternates or substitutions play?
Yes. Teams may register up to two alternates, but only four players from the registered roster may participate in any individual match. An alternate occupies an active lobby position only after the captain substitutes that player into the four-player lineup before the next lobby begins.
Captains & lobbies
What does the team captain handle?
The captain is the team’s official contact. Captains manage selected exhibition nights, reconfirmation, check-in, active lineups, lobby information, verification requests, and protests through the Captain Portal.
How will teams receive lobby information?
Lobby details are released privately in the Captain Portal after administrative approval, event-specific check-in, and lineup confirmation. Captains must not share credentials outside their registered squad.
When does an exhibition team become ready?
A team is ready after its registration is approved, at least four rostered players are confirmed, and its captain completes check-in for that specific exhibition night.
What happens if our team misses check-in?
A team that misses the published check-in deadline loses its guaranteed lobby position. Standby promotion and final lobby assignment occur during the 15-minute buffer before Match 1.
What happens if a player disconnects?
The match normally continues with the remaining players. A disconnected player may reconnect only if PUBG permits it. No replacement may enter mid-match; a registered alternate may be submitted before the next match.
When will officials restart a match?
A restart is reserved for a lobby, server, or configuration failure, or a widespread technical issue that materially affects several teams—normally before meaningful competitive play has occurred. An individual player, device, or internet disconnect does not automatically cause a restart.
How do captains report a match-day problem?
Use the private “Report a problem” control on the Match Day page in the Captain Portal. Choose the issue type, provide a short factual description, and keep playing unless tournament staff instruct otherwise.
Where can I see the schedule and standings?
The public Standings section shows official scores and match status. Captains receive team-specific actions and lobby information in the Captain Portal.
Verification & protests
What devices or features are prohibited?
Cronus, XIM, unauthorized mouse-and-keyboard adapters, macros, scripts, turbo functions, automated recoil control, exploits, collusion, account sharing, and other unfair advantages are prohibited. Review the full Competitive Integrity Policy for details.
Can officials request a live verification?
Yes. A player may be selected for a random or targeted verification and asked to show their controller, console connections, accessories, and setup during a live Discord video call. A selected player generally has 10 minutes to respond unless an official grants an extension.
How does a captain file a protest?
Only the registered captain may file an official protest. Notice should be submitted through the Captain Portal within 15 minutes after the match, with the complete evidence package supplied within 60 minutes.
Can a ruling be appealed?
A captain may appeal a final ruling within 24 hours when the appeal identifies a material error, overlooked evidence, or genuinely new evidence. Disagreement alone is not enough.
Prizes & results
What are the Championship prizes?
The regular-season Championship prize pool is to be announced after the Preseason Exhibition review. No amount, minimum, or estimate is currently guaranteed. The funded total and exact 1st–3rd-place distribution will be published before paid registration opens. No prize amount is advertised for the Preseason Exhibition.
When are prizes paid?
Prizes are issued after final results, player eligibility, verification requests, protests, and any appeals that could affect the standings are resolved.
Are results final as soon as the last match ends?
No. The displayed standings may remain provisional while officials complete score checks and resolve material integrity cases. Kings of the Lobby will identify the results when they become official.
Where can I find past winners?
Every certified champion, runner-up, and third-place team is preserved in the public Kings of the Lobby Hall of Fame, along with the champion roster and tournament highlights.
What do the player statistics cover?
The Hall of Fame stat book covers Kings of the Lobby tournament play only. K/D, average damage, wins, kills, and top-ten finishes are published after officials review the post-tournament totals.
Where are tournament video highlights stored?
The website keeps a rotating selection of up to six recent YouTube highlights for speed. The official KOTL YouTube channel will hold the complete video collection.
